Have you met your CEO? 40% of American Workers in the dark..

While nearly 60% of workers in the US have met their CEO a staggering 40% have not! This is according to a survey by CareerBuilder of 7,000 working Americans.  Employees in business services, sales and manufacturing are the most likely to have met their CEO, while workers in IT, financial services and retail are the least likely.  21% don't even know what the CEO looks like.

The survey suggests that familiarity with senior leadership does not necessarily correlate with knowledge of the company’s financial performance. More than two-thirds (68 percent) of workers don’t know how much their company generates in revenue each year.

Workers’ knowledge of the organisational chart falls off even further after the CEO. Only 35% of workers can name all of the C-level officers at their organisation, while an additional 21% can only name some C-level officers.

Incredible statistics at a time when the world's most successful brands are differentiating themselves by their workforce - think Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, etc...

With social media and word-of-mouth marketing a reality of today’s workplace, what happens inside is reflected in the way your brand and your people are perceived on the outside.

In order to compete effectively in this changed business environment, it's essential that the workforce both understands and shares the CEO's vision.  It is the workforce who will be instrumental in the successful implementation of the organisation’s objectives. Connecting with employees and balancing their needs, with the needs of the business has never been more important. We were amazed by the statistics, as we actively encourage CEOs to get involved in Workforce Management Projects - even if it's just at the initial stages. This involvement proves to their employees, both their commitment and their understanding of how their workforce is paramount to the success of the business.
