Posted by Triona Cahalane on Wed, Nov 14, 2012

Softworks were delighted to meet Minister for Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation, Richard Bruton and CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Frank Ryan at a recent Enterprise Ireland Event in Toronto. The objective of the mission is to increase the level of Irish exports to Canada.

Canada is the tenth largest economy in the world and Enterprise Ireland views Canada as a market with high potential. It is a market of 34 million people with high disposable incomes and provides a gateway into the North American market. The similarities in language, culture and commercial practices make Canada an attractive place to do business. Irish company exports to Canada have grown by 74% in the last five years. With a stable financial services industry and abundant reserves of natural resources, Canada is on a growth curve.

Softworks has been in the Canadian market since 2008 with an established and growing customer base across various industries.

Softworks Featured in Accountancy Ireland Magazine

Posted by Triona Cahalane on Thu, Feb 9, 2012

Oliver MitchellSoftworks very own Financial Controller, Oliver Mitchell is featured in this month's Accountancy Ireland Magazine, discussing the topic “Maximising profitability by managing and aligning labour resources efficiently”

The costs of the workforce will probably always remain the largest overhead for almost all businesses, no matter what the industry. Imagine that on average, Irish businesses are spending approximately €870,327 (based on an average staff cost of €47,362 p.a.) per minute on their workforce that’s almost €2 billion a week. Capturing what those minutes are spent on can improve productivity and create opportunities for most businesses. In this article, Oliver discusses the three-phrased steps to maximising efficiency and productivity:

Phrase 1: Workforce Profiling

Phrase 2: Maximising Efficiency

Phrase 3: Management Control

For businesses to success in this challenging and competitive environment, it is essential that they understand the true cost of labour and align all costs with associated revenue and business profitability. Once savings are achieved, they can be banked and accumulate on year, maximising the profitability and efficiency of the business.

Softworks School Time

Softworks are delighted to be sponsoring Presentation College Carlow’s F1 Team!

The F1 in Schools competition is an international competition for secondary level schools. This stimulating competition provides an exciting yet challenging education experience through the magnetic appeal of Formula One. Working in teams of 3 and 6, each student is assigned roles. The team prepares a business plan, develops a budget and raises sponsorship. This encourages Teams to collaborate with Industry and forge business links. The Teams are then judged on car speed, as well as supporting evidence of their design, verbal presentation and marketing display stand in ‘the pits’.

Teams compete regionally, nationally and internationally for the Bernie Ecclestone F1 in Schools World Championship Trophy!

Softworks are happy to be sponsoring Team Quark from Presentation College Carlow who not only qualified for the National Finals but were also invited to the World Finals which is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in September 2011. The global F1 in Schools Competition is an extremely worthwhile initiative for Softworks to sponsor as it aims to help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and mathematics by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop an informed view about careers in engineering, science, marketing and technology.

Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin is Ireland’s largest paediatric hospital that does everything in its power to help sick children. We need to look after our smallest and most vulnerable citizens and in order for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital to function to their best ability; they need constant fundraising and sponsorship.

The second charity is Walking with Giants Foundation (WWG) which is set up to enrich the lives of individuals and families affected by Primordial Dwarfism. The WWG hold an annual conference each year in Liverpool with children from all over the world attending with their families. There are huge obstacles and unfortunately life threatening health issues associated with this condition and this conference gives families a chance to help each other.

For more information on both charities please see: Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin and Walking with Giants Foundation (WWG)
